Turn an empty house into a home

Imagine Christmas Day in a bare silent house:

No cooker to prepare a warm meal

No sofa to sit on with loved ones.

No TV to watch a Christmas special

For someone who’s just escaped homelessness, having none of these items is their reality. It means moving into their empty house can feel overwhelming, not joyful.

It’s why we set up our Hope at Home project to provide essentials like a bed to sleep in, a sofa to relax on, a fridge and cooker for meals, and carpets to bring warmth. We let people choose the colours and styles they love because dignity matters.

Homelessness in the east of England is rising. At least 26,000 people are experiencing homelessness in our region according to figures released in March.

Every day, more people are referred to us for help. We want to support them all, but our budget can’t stretch that far.

But you can make a difference. Your donation will help us turn an empty house into a home. Here are some examples:

£20  Toaster

£25  Duvet and covers

£55  Set of cutlery, plates & bowls

£100 Microwave, toaster & kettle

This is what these simple items can mean to someone who has experienced homelessness:

“Without your support, my daughter and I would be living in a house without flooring and furniture, so yes, it definitely changed our life. It helped us start a new life and have a fresh beginning, after leaving the refuge with just our personal things.”
